Andre Clark
Associate Professional Clinical Counselor
Hi I am Andre Clark. I have over twenty years of experience providing counseling services for individuals, families, couples, and children. I began working as an advisor as a young officer in the United States Air Force (USAF) Resiliency Program. The benchmark program focused on active-duty service members and government contractors suffering with symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I also assisted in providing mental health care services for military members suffering with anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions. It was this experience, counseling military members, and their families that led to my passion for helping our heroes. The experiences were life changing and led to my realization of my passion for helping vets and the healing power of human connection.
I am a proud Alumnus of Florida State University (FSU), where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. GO NOLES! After graduating from FSU, in response to the terrorist attacks of 9-11, I accepted a commission at the rank of Lieutenant in the USAF. I served during operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. In 2007, at the rank of Captain, I separated from the Air Force under Honorable conditions and accepted a position with the Department of Homeland Security. In 2020, I earned my Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy Counseling from the University of Phoenix. Since receiving my Associate Marriage and Family Therapy (AMFT) license, I have worked with various populations in the local southern California community.
I am highly collaborative, sincere, and always maintain a professional demeanor. I offer a variety of solution-focused interventions that enable clients to implement immediately. My focus is to ensure clients understand and overcome their perceived limitations and achieve personal growth. My preferred intervention model is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I am also a proponent of incorporating mindfulness, nutrition, and an active lifestyle to promote a whole person concept in treatment planning.
My approach to therapy includes a humanistic centered style, where we establish a collaborative and trusting relationship to allow for vulnerability and personal growth to occur. I am committed to providing compassionate and empathetic care to support you in your journey towards self-discovery, where we can explore and identify your strengths, build confidence, and self- esteem. I specialize in trauma and PTSD. I have extensive experience working with childhood trauma such abuse, neglect, and abandonment.
sIt is my goal to help in the healing process by re-establishing safety, processing emotions, and providing coping skills for the purpose of reducing negative symptoms. Through trauma work, you can feel empowered and resilient. I utilize a variety of evidenced based practices that best supports you individually, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness practice, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
