EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing  (EMDR) facilitates deep and lasting change. Clients are satisfied to resolve issues they've worked on for years in conventional talk therapy and are no longer problematic. Not only does healing occur more rapidly, but clients often experience a sense of joy, openness and a deep connection with themselves and others upon completion. EMDR is a therapeutic process using eye movements, sound or pulsations to stimulate both hemispheres of the brain. Focusing on a distressful (or positive) experience along with the bi-lateral stimulation brings about changes in the brain that bring an individual into a state of greater balance. It was originally developed in the 1980’s as a protocol for treating PTSD (Post traumatic Stress Disorder), especially for combat trauma. Since then, its popularity has grown and an impressive body of research attests to its efficacy. Multiple studies over many years indicate EMDR’s effectiveness in helping people recover from a variety of traumatic experiences.
